The Panjatan Pak and Wasilah in the Light of the Qur'an

1. CREATION OF PANJATAN – BLESSED WITH ALLAH’S LIGHT – KHANQAHS – KAFARU WILL BE CONDEMNED FOR NOT ACCEPTING WASILAH

Sura 24 – Sura Noor : Ayats 35 – 40 declare :

a. 35 – "Allah is the Noor or Light of the Universe i.e. the Heavens and the earth. He is making the example out of His Noor of a Pillar (It is like a lighthouse or a beacon of light on the top of a high place so that its light can guide the Universe. The example set in this Ayat describes the creation of the one and only thing out of Noor of Allah. This first creation is the Noor-e-Muhammadi. The Holy Prophet is from the "Noor of Allah" as is confirmed also in Sura 5 – Al Maidah : Ayat 15 quoted later). And out of it (i.e. Noor-e-Muhammadi) is (made) a lamp (this is the creation of Panjatan Pak Hazrat Ali Karam Allah Wajho) and (out of Noor-e-Muhammadi is made) a glass which encompasses the lamp (this is the creation of Panjatan Pak Hazrat Bibi Fatemah Alai Salaam) and it became a bright shining star (this is the creation out of Noor-e-Muhammadi of Panjatan Pak Hazrat Hasan Alai Salaam) lit from the blessed oil of the olive tree (this is the creation from Noor-e-Muhammadi of Panjatan Pak Hazrat Hussain Shaheed-e-Karbala Alai Salaam) and (through Noor-e-Muhammadi has been disclosed the religion of Islam) which is confined not (only) to the East or (only) to the West (but embraces the entire universe). This oil (i.e. Islam) gives out the light (of guidance to mankind) even though no fire has touched it. (The book of guidance the Holy Quran is) Light upon Light. Allah guides to His Light whom He is pleased with. Allah explains by such examples so that men may understand (and try to contest those who have been blessed with Allah’s light to obtain a Wasilah or spiritual guide as ordered in Sura 5 – Al Maidah : Ayat 35 quoted later). And Allah is Knower of all things."

a. 36 – "(This Divine Light blessed upon men is to be found) in houses (i.e. Khanqahs of Sufis) which Allah has permitted to be exalted because of the Zikr (this is spiritual ritual of the Sufis when the qalb i.e. heart and body recite the name of Allah and not the tongue and mouth – a performance which only the Sufis can do and teach). Where Zikrs are done in the mornings and in the nights.

a. 37 – "(Such Sufi Saints are) Men (blessed with the Light of Allah who are in charge of Khanqahs) are such whom neither merchandise nor trading can divert from the Zikr of Allah (i.e. making their qalb to do Zikr – this Zikr is far superior to Salat or worship of Allah as confirmed in Sura 29 – Ankabut : Ayat 45 quoted later) and the paying of Zakat (or annual poor dues) regularly. (Such men blessed with Allah's Light) are well aware of the Day (of Judgement) when eyes and hearts are going to be shocked or overturned or frightened at what they will see.

a. 38 – "That Allah may reward them (those blessed with Allah's Light) on the basis of the best of their deeds and bless them even more out of His Grace. And Allah does reward without any limit those whom He is pleased with.

a. 39 – "But those who disobey (from amongst the believers to accept such saints as their Wasilah or spiritual guides as ordered in Sura 5 – Al Maidah : Ayats 35 – 37 quoted later), their deeds are like a mirage in the desert, towards which the thirsty rushes for water (during his life) until when he comes to it (upon death) he finds it is nothing, rather he finds Allah in front of him. So He (Allah) pays him his dues. And Allah is swift at taking an account.

a. 40 – "Or like darkness upon darkness in the depth of the deep sea where he is covered by a wave over which is wave, above which is a dark cloud – layers of darkness upon darkness one above the other. So much so that when he holds out his hands he is almost unable to see it. Those who do not accept such who have been blessed with Allah's light are they to whom Allah gives no light, for them there will be no light (of guidance)".

The Holy Prophet is from the "Noor of Allah" as is confirmed also in Sura 5 – Al Maidah : Ayat 15 which reads :

"O people of the Books! Without doubt our Messenger has come to you … Indeed he is from the Noor of Allah. And (through him) Kitab-um-Mobin (i.e. the clear unchallengeable Quran)".

Zikr is superior to Salat or worship of Allah as confirmed in Sura 29 – Ankabut : Ayat 45 which disclosed :

"... Without doubt Salat i.e. worship of Allah saves you from lewdness and sins but the Zikr of Allah is indeed Akbar".

i.e. Zikr is Akbar or greater or more important than Salat. So Zikr is given a higher position in the Quran than even the establishment of regular Salat.

Over here another related Ayat is quoted out of the many all over the Quran. Sura 2 – Al Baqr : Ayat 105 means :

"Neither those who "Kafaru" (i.e. disobey) from amongst the people of Divine Scriptures nor the idolaters love that there should be sent down upon you (O Prophet Mohammad) any good things from your Lord. But Allah chooses for His Mercy whom He wills. And (indeed) Allah is of infinite bounty".

Such Ayats of the Holy Quran bring out sufficiently the meaning of "Kafaru" or disobeyers from amongst the Muslims and that the word "Mushriq" has been used in the Ayat to distinguish the disobeyers from the "Kafirs" or associants i.e. those who do not believe in the oneness of Allah, nor in the Quran nor in the Prophet. As against that "Kafaru" are people who believe in Allah, the Divine Scriptures and the Prophets. Such Ayats of the Quran do not leave any scope for "Kafaru" being confused for Kafirs or disbelievers.

2. WASILAH – ALLAH ORDERS SEARCH – THE "KAFARU" CONDEMNED TO HELL

The Quran further clarifies this point of "Kafaru" in a number of orders given to believers when it starts with :

"Ya Ayyaohal Lazina Aamanoo"

i.e. "O you who are believers" followed by some orders of Allah.

Then in the following sentences there is generally a reference to disobeyers from amongst the believers. These following Ayats often start with :

"Innal Lazina Kafaru"

i.e. without doubt those out of the "aamanoo" or believers who "Kafaru" i.e. disobey to do the above orders given in the previous Ayats are warned that if they "Kafaru" or disobey then they will be punished as described in the subsequent Ayats of the Quran.

Let us look at one such set of orders in the Quran upon the believers and the punishment for those who "Kafaru".

Sura 5 – Al Maidah : Ayats 35 – 37 mean :

a. 35 – "O you who believe ! Do Taqwa towards Allah (Taqwa means that your love for Allah should be so intense or perfect that no worldly temptations should be able to induce you to commit a sin or divert you from the establishment of Salat and the proper payment of Zakat). And search out a "Wasilah" (for yourself) i.e. an intermediary (who would train you to achieve Taqwa) to be able to approach Him (Allah) and do "Jehad" (i.e. wage a war upon your "Nafs Ammara" also called "Khannas" or "Hamzat" i.e. on your evil selfish desires) in the manner shown (by your Waliyan Murshed) in order that your may succeed (in gaining control over your evil selfish desires).

a. 36 – "As for those (out of the believers who have been ordered to search for a Wasilah in the previous Ayat) who "Kafaru" i.e. disobey or neglect (to seek a Wasilah to train them to achieve Taqwa by doing Jehad upon their Nafs Ammara as ordered in the previous Ayat), without doubt if they had all the good (deeds or naiki, Sawab) that are on the earth collected together and as much (good deeds) once again were added to them to enable them to offer the same in exchange to save them from the doom of the Day of Resurrection, these will not be accepted from them. Theirs will be a painful doom.

a. 37 – "They may strive as much as they like (by arguing with Allah that we have worshipped you, the Alone, and refused a Wasilah just like Iblis has done by refusing to accept and bow before Adam, the Khalifa of Allah) but they will not come out of the Fire. Theirs will be an everlasting doom".

Note : Those who refuse to accept a Wasilah – i.e. Waliyan Murshid have followed the footsteps of Iblis who is a confirmed believer in Allah but who did Kafaru i.e. refused to obey Allah's order to bow his head before the Khalifa of Allah, who taught him all the wonderful names of Allah (Sura 2 – Al Baqr : Ayats 30 – 34).
